2005 saw Dominic’s debut as Alvaro in La Forza del Destino in Hagen, Germany. During this production the most fulfilling experience for Dominic was the opportunity to rehearse with the talented and inspiring young conductor Günther Albers; a musician with innate musicality and a profound commitment to achieving the highest possible standards of performance; objectives clearly incompatible with mediocrity! Unfortunately, with only two orchestral rehearsals to go before the premiere, for some undisclosed reason, Günther Albers was replaced with a young conductor who had had no rehearsals with any of the principal cast during the six weeks of rehearsals, nor had he conducted this work before. This had an obvious and detrimental impact on the musical integrity and quality of the performances, not to mention destabilising the singers on stage, the end result was to undermine what promised to be a “great” show which ended up being just “good enough”, in our opinion.
“D.N. combined melting tenor tones with shining top notes in a stirring performance. With the shining tenor of Dominic Natoli the audience experienced the most glorious singing”. “A shining, strong, secure tenor!”
