Reviews:
"Dominic Natoli stands out as a lively magician.."
The Times, and Opera John Allison
"Dominic Natoli's Magician was an entertaining, vocally lustrous scene stealer".
The Stage, David Blewitt 5/8/99
"Dominic Natoli, as a famous conjurer also awaiting a visa, seizes his opportunity with both hands in a scene designed to contrast his imaginative, easily accessible fantasy world with the immobility and inhumanity the characters must actually confront".
Evening Standard, Tom Sutcliffe 28/7/99
Following the success of this season he returned to Opera Holland Park for the next four seasons always to resounding success from critics and public alike.
In 2000 he sang his first Riccardo (Gustavus) in Un Ballo in Maschera (Verdi)
- a role which he has since performed in two other productions in France: Opera de Rennes and Opera de Metz France 2003.
In 2001 he sang his first Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut (Puccini).
“Thank God for D N ... who transformed dross into gold...his likeable Des Grieux was characterised by glowing Italianate tone, rapturous cantabile singing, the clear delivery of text, and a sure command of the Puccinian line.”
The Stage, David Blewitt
“Vocally excellent”
Michael Tanner
His next production of this role was at the Royal Danish Opera in 2002 following his performances as Pinkerton for the Danish National Opera earlier that year. He returned to the Danish National Opera in 2010 to a new production of Manon Lescaut which toured Denmark for a total of 22 performances.
